Rachel Burney is a bicoastal men's groomer, hairstylist, and makeup artist, born and raised in Los Angeles. After graduating from Paul Mitchell in 2008, she began her career as hairstylist under the mentorship of Paul Mitchell's Artistic Directors. Refusing to pick a "specialty" so early on, she dedicated her time to becoming a jack of all trades - she did it all and did it all well. Ten years later, she serves a celebrity clientele and is sought out for her men's grooming, women's beauty makeup, and intricate updo hairstyling. Rachel is a cutting specialist (including barbering and scissor over comb), colorist and certified in all methods of extensions.
As seen in her portfolio, her vast client list consists of celebrity and advertising clientele. She reguarly collaborates with photographers Luke Fontana, Trever Hoehne, Ben Sasso, Angi Welsch and Arthur Galvao and has contributed to publications such as Vogue, Vogue Italia, W Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, New York Times Magazine, Variety, GQ, BELLO, Luca, The Wrap, and so on.
For over 15 years, Rachel has partnered with local and international non profits organizations that serve survivors of sex trafficking. After obtaining her cosmetology license, she began teaching hairstyling as a job skill for this demographic as well as consulting in development and sustainable reintegration. For a time, she lived in Rwanda and Kenya doing research, training aspiring hairstylists and partnering with local beauty schools and salons. She has consulted for a number of non profits and beauty schools in Uganda, Cambodia, Thailand, and today works alongside Los Angeles based non profits who are empowering men and women alike.
